With the number of CBD oil in Canada and products increasing globally, more and more people from different backgrounds are consuming it daily.<\/p>\n

As in every large-scale industry, we must first understand the impact of this expansion on the condition of this earth.<\/p>\n

Let’s look at how CBD<\/a> is made and how it affects our planet’s sustainability. We think all businesses producing and selling CBD should work together on making these problems a priority.<\/p>\n

CBD Production<\/h3>\n

The environmental impact of CBD farming and processing is an essential factor to consider. CBD oil comes from the plant hemp, which shouldn’t be mistaken with the hallucinogenic cannabis variety, marijuana.<\/p>\n

This production of hemp is affordable to even small family farmers. Since it maximizes plant size, hemp is often grown outdoors. Furthermore, hemp does not need a significant amount of water, unlike other crops.<\/p>\n

Hemp grows quickly, which means a higher production rate can be achieved with limited land. Also, since it is a plant with deep roots, it needs very few pesticides.<\/p>\n

With the deep roots, the hemp plant can also source water<\/a> and nutrients deep underneath the topsoil, preventing the field from depleting essential minerals.<\/p>\n

Healthy soil has been one of our most valuable natural resources. It aids in the processing of food and fuel for humans.<\/p>\n

It is an essential component of many other biological processes in the environment. Keeping the vital minerals in the soil means preserving our ability to use them.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, it has been shown that hemp has a beneficial effect on the soil around it, eliminating residues of heavy metals and eventually leaving a healthier land state. According to other research, every ton of hemp grown absorbs 1.63 tonnes of carbon per year, demonstrating hemp’s beneficial effect on air quality.<\/p>\n

Hemp’s potential extends beyond CBD. Almost every component of the hemp plant serves a reason. The hemp plant is a high-value crop that can make various items, ranging from food to textiles to construction materials.<\/p>\n

Hemp seeds are high in protein, omega-3 fats, and other essential nutrients. They can also be processed into flour. Its woody core makes paper, animal bedding, and a concrete-like lightweight material.<\/p>\n
